Listening To the Heart of Winter: A Circle of Trust® Experience
Winter is the season of deep listening. The most basic tenant of Courage and Renewal® is that every person has access to an inner source of truth, named in various wisdom traditions as identity, true self, heart, spirit or soul. If we are to maintain our personal well-being, social commitment, and individual integrity, we need to find a place that allows us to hear our own inner voice, to rediscover and cherish our sense of purpose, and to be discerning in our life choices.
Begin the new year, not with resolutions and to-do’s, but with mindful practices to reignite your inner compass and set your course for the year ahead. Join us for a reflective experience of Circle of Trust® practices, drawing on approaches to deep listening and contemplation developed by Parker J. Palmer and the Center for Courage and Renewal. We will create space to reconnect with our hearts in winter, to rediscover our capacity for whole-hearted living, and honour our relationship to ourselves, to others, and to the world around us. Through personal reflection, dialogue and embodied presence, we can come to listen to our interconnections, what calls us, and what next steps await us.
Together, we will engage in large and small group conversations, drawing inspiration for these from poetry and writings and stories. We will share silence, solitude and reflective journaling, and hear tales from our own lives and work. You will discover principles and practices from our Circle of Trust® approach that can be applied to your daily life, communities and work, including developing receptive listening practices and the art of open and honest questioning.
